- Who can take Confirmation Classes?
This series of Confirmation Classes is for youth who are in 7th grade or higher in the 2005-06 school year.
- What is Confirmation?
It is a series of classes that teach about Christianity, the church, and the United Methodist Church. We will review all the information you need, to help you make a decision as to whether your desire is to join the church now – or in the future.
- When is Confirmation?
Classes are generally once a week: Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m. We begin on Sunday, March 5 and end with Confirmation Sunday on May 20, 2007. (Class Schedule)
- Can I miss a class?
We encourage you to miss no more than three classes. All missed classes can be made up by attending a mid-week make up class. Make up Classes will be held at 6:30 p.m. on the following Wednesdays: Fall 2006 Schedule TBD
- What else will be expected of me?
- Attend the weekly classes and be prepared by bringing your Bible, student book and confirmation folder.
- Regularly attend Sunday Morning Worship Services (if you attend another church please bring a bulletin back to share)
- Participate in two or more service projects: one in the church setting (inreach) and another in the community (outreach).
- Attend the Confirmation Retreat in Fall 2006
- Maintain a relationship with your mentor (see below)
- Talk briefly with your Pastors about joining the church (in May).
- What is a mentor?
In this journey, a mentor is an adult who is willing to go on a journey of faith with you. They will help you learn more about Christian faith and discipleship.
- I haven't been baptized; can I still participate in Confirmation?
Yes. If you have not been baptized, on Confirmation Sunday you will be baptized before you are confirmed.
- When is the Confirmation Retreat?
The retreat has been postponed to the Fall 2006. A date will be determined in the future.
